LATAM Brazil has taken delivery of its first Embraer E195-E2 on October 8, 2026, the carrier and manufacturer confirmed, opening a 12-aircraft delivery stream the airline aims to complete by year-end.
The aircraft is the lead unit in a commitment that could reach 74 E195-E2s after LATAM Airlines Group's September 2025 announcement. It still must clear Brazilian customs, receive cabin interior approval and complete certification with regulator ANAC before entering revenue service in the coming days.
What does the delivery unlock for LATAM's domestic map?
Commercial operations will run between November 2026 and March 2027. In phase one, LATAM plans to base 14 E195-E2s across 42 routes, including eight new services. Four of those would land the carrier in cities it does not currently serve: Cabo Frio and Macaé in Rio de Janeiro state, Ji-Paraná in Rondônia and Rondonópolis in Mato Grosso.
LATAM says the schedule would produce "the largest domestic network in its history." The carrier now serves 63 Brazilian airports, up from 44 six years ago, and is evaluating up to 18 additional destinations for the type next year.
"We want to add new markets with strong demand, serving over 70 Brazilian airports by as early as 2027," LATAM Brazil CEO Jerome Cadier said.
How is LATAM compressing the certification timeline?
To shorten the path to service entry, LATAM borrowed Embraer's "Profit Hunter" demonstration aircraft. The carrier used the jet for evacuation demonstrations, evaluation flights and pilot training, which it says cut those steps by about half without lowering safety standards.
The airline expects to finish certification roughly 12 months after announcing the order. Embraer CEO Francisco Gomes Neto said the E195-E2 would support LATAM's connectivity strategy and the growth of air transportation in Brazil.
What does the cabin look like?
The aircraft carries 136 seats in a 2-2 layout, with no middle seat. Depending on configuration, up to 20 positions will operate as Premium Economy, offering additional legroom, deeper recline and upgraded service; the rest are standard Economy.
Every seat has a USB-C port. LATAM Pass members will receive complimentary Wi-Fi, and all passengers can access the LATAM Play streaming platform.
What are the operating economics?
Embraer markets the E195-E2 with a 3,000-nautical-mile range (5,556 km) and fuel burn up to 30% lower than first-generation E-Jets, a claim the carrier will now generate in-service data on. The airframer also says the E2 family reduces carbon emissions by up to 25%. The jet uses fourth-generation fly-by-wire controls.
Cumulatively, Embraer has delivered more than 2,000 E-Jets and E2 aircraft, operated by over 80 airlines in 50 countries. Whether the LATAM batch meets the manufacturer's published economics on a Brazilian domestic mission profile is the next data point competitors and lessors will track.
If LATAM clears ANAC certification in the coming days and ramps 14 aircraft across 42 routes by March 2027, the E195-E2's Brazilian footprint will have shifted from a single demo visit to the backbone of the country's most ambitious regional expansion in two decades.
