SkyMark Companies and Rampmaster have introduced a 5,000-gallon aircraft refueler, the first vehicle in a planned family of jointly developed fuelers, with combined manufacturing scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2027. The two companies unveiled the truck at the NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition.

The program follows private equity firm ATL Partners' acquisition of both manufacturers and their subsequent operational integration. That integration, now complete, spans five manufacturing locations with streamlined processes and standardized common-use parts — a consolidation aimed squarely at serviceability and cost.

What does the new refueler actually change?

The vehicle merges engineering from both brands into a single platform. Its integrated pumping system, electrical architecture and programming are designed to simplify operation and cut maintenance burden. A redesigned operator control panel carries a fully digital interface covering vehicle operation, diagnostics and servicing.

The most quantifiable claim sits under the hood. The refueler incorporates Rampmaster's Engine Management System (EMS), certified by the Center for Alternative Fuels, Engines and Emissions (CAFEE). The manufacturer says the system cuts fuel consumption by as much as 43 percent, emissions by 63 percent and engine wear by 46 percent, achieved through operation at lower engine speeds.

Those figures are manufacturer claims, and buyers will want them verified against fleet operating data. For an operator running refuelers daily across a large ramp, a 43 percent fuel saving compounds quickly; a 46 percent reduction in engine wear translates into longer intervals between overhauls and fewer spare engines on the shelf.

Who is behind it, and why now?

The joint product is the visible output of ATL Partners' consolidation play. The private equity owner acquired the two brands, then set about aligning product strategies and go-to-market plans before building hardware together.

"This collaboration marks a milestone for SkyMark and Rampmaster, the two most respected and trusted aviation industry brands, by leveraging a half century of industry expertise," said Steven Paul, CEO of SkyMark Companies. "We have aligned our organizations to create product strategies and go-to-market plans that best serve the needs of our customers."

Half a century of combined expertise is the marketing frame. The structural fact underneath is simpler: two competitors now share parts, plants and a product roadmap.

"We delivered the first in a family of refuelers that incorporates the strongest product differentiators and competitive advantages from both brands," said Owen Watkins, chief operating officer of Rampmaster.

What comes next?

The companies position the platform as a long-term operating-cost play rather than a single vehicle. Joint manufacturing begins in the first quarter of 2027, which sets the clock: roughly a year and a half of demonstration, certification follow-through and customer trials before volume production starts.

For airports, FBOs and fuel handlers weighing fleet replacement cycles, the relevant questions are now field performance of the EMS claims and parts availability across the combined five-site network. The 2027 production date gives early adopters time to test both.
