EPCOR Signs Five-Year APU Support Deal with mas for A330 Fleet
The five-year deal covers GTCP331-350 APUs across five A330s, combining shop-visit maintenance, leased replacement units, engineering support and predictive maintenance as mas expands.

Mexican cargo operator mas has signed a five-year agreement with EPCOR covering auxiliary power unit support for its Airbus A330 fleet, a deal that pairs shop-visit maintenance with APU leasing, engineering support, and a predictive maintenance product as the airline prepares to expand its international freighter operations.
The contract covers five aircraft equipped with GTCP331-350 APUs, the Honeywell-built unit that powers the A330 family. For mas, the scope is deliberately broad: EPCOR will handle APU shop visits, supply replacement units through lease arrangements, provide engineering support, and deploy Prognos for APU, a predictive maintenance tool designed to make maintenance planning more efficient by anticipating removals before failures disrupt operations.
That combination matters for a cargo operator scaling its network. Unscheduled APU removals ground aircraft and consume spare capacity, and leasing replacement units allows mas to keep A330s flying while its own APUs move through the shop. The lease structure also gives the airline room to adjust as its fleet grows rather than committing capital to owned spares sized for a fleet that is set to expand.
EPCOR, a specialist in APU and pneumatic component MRO, is part of Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M). The mas agreement therefore extends the Franco-Dutch group's component and powerplant support footprint into the Mexican cargo market, where A330 operations are a growing segment.
The deal follows an extended commercial engagement between the two parties, according to EPCOR Managing Director Heidi Haveman. "Over the past years, we have built a strong understanding of mas's operational needs and how we can best support them," she said. "Together, we have shaped the workscope around their preferences, while the flexibility of the lease solution provides room to adapt as their operational needs evolve."
Haveman framed the contract as evidence of an approach that distinguishes EPCOR within the component-support market. "This agreement is a great example of how an operator-to-operator approach can translate into a support solution built around the customer's specific requirements," she said.
mas Chief Executive Robert van de Weg pointed to both the tailored workscope and the backing of a major airline-group MRO as deciding factors. "We are pleased to establish this partnership with EPCOR and AFI KLM E&M," he said. "Over the course of our engagement, EPCOR demonstrated a strong understanding of our operational needs and a willingness to work with us to find the right solution."
He added: "The ability to tailor the workscope to our preferences was an important factor in our decision. We also value the airline MRO experience that AFI KLM E&M brings to the partnership."
The agreement aligns with mas's stated plans to expand international cargo operations and add aircraft to its fleet while maintaining availability and performance across its A330s. For an operator in growth mode, long-term powerplant-support agreements reduce exposure to shop-visit cost volatility and slot availability, constraints that have tightened across the MRO sector as older widebodies accumulate hours in cargo conversion and freighter service.
Van de Weg concluded: "This agreement gives us confidence that we have the right support in place as we continue to develop our A330 operations." As mas adds capacity, the five-year term gives EPCOR a baseline volume of GTCP331-350 work and mas a support structure it can extend across incoming aircraft.
