Singapore Airlines will equip its refreshed long-haul fleet with 4K OLED touchscreens, spatial audio and 2,500 content options, the carrier announced on October 21, 2026, as part of a SG$1.1 billion (US$860 million) cabin investment covering 41 aircraft.

The upgraded KrisWorld inflight entertainment (IFE) platform forms one pillar of a wider product overhaul. The program will refit 34 Airbus A350-900s and seven A350-900ULRs with new cabin interiors. Singapore Airlines plans to unveil the new long-haul cabin experience on November 7, 2026.

What does the new KrisWorld platform offer?

The redesigned system centres on hardware and interface upgrades:

  • 4K touchscreens built on OLED display technology
  • Spatial audio and Bluetooth pairing for personal headphones
  • 2,500 content options from producers including Apple TV, the BBC, HBO Max and Paramount+
  • A redesigned user interface (UI) with clearer menus, larger icons, and improved search and filter functions
  • A mini player function allowing passengers to browse content and flight information while continuing to watch a film

Personalisation is tied to the airline's loyalty ecosystem. Passengers who log into KrisWorld using KrisFlyer program credentials will receive personalised content recommendations and flight information. Their viewing history will also sync across different flights, allowing a film started on one sector to resume on the next.

When does Starlink connectivity arrive?

Connectivity is the second strand of the plan. Singapore Airlines confirmed in May 2026 that it will roll out Starlink high-speed internet across its Airbus A380, A350-900 and A350-900ULR fleets from early 2027. The programme covers 53 aircraft in total.

One caveat applies at this stage: part of the A350-900 fleet that operates regional routes is excluded from the initial deployment. The airline also intends to fit Starlink to its future Boeing 777X fleet but has not provided a timeframe.

Access will not be universal. Starlink will be free for passengers in suites, first class and business class, and for PPS Club and KrisFlyer frequent flyer members regardless of cabin — including premium economy and economy. Other economy passengers fall outside the free-access group as announced.

The Starlink rollout effectively couples connectivity to the loyalty programme, giving enrolled travellers a tangible benefit at no incremental fare cost and strengthening the KrisFlyer membership proposition against competing Gulf and Asian carriers.

How does this fit the wider investment?

The IFE refresh follows, by a matter of days, the unveiling of an updated inflight catering offering on October 2026. That programme introduces or refreshes up to 100 menu options across all cabin classes under the 'SIA Chefs' Selection' brand.

Together, the entertainment, dining and connectivity upgrades constitute the passenger-facing elements of the SG$1.1 billion refit of the 41-aircraft long-haul fleet. The scale of the spend — roughly US$21 million per aircraft for the cabins alone — signals the premium segment pressure Singapore Airlines faces as rivals race to install comparable hardware.

What does this change for passengers?

For long-haul travellers, the November 7 unveiling will show whether the combined screen, content and connectivity package justifies the airline's premium positioning. The first tangible test arrives in early 2027, when Starlink-equipped A380s and A350s begin delivering free satellite internet to loyalty members across the network.
