Vertical Aerospace Secures 50-Aircraft Order from India
Vertical Aerospace has landed a 50-aircraft order from a customer in India, adding to the backlog behind its VX4 eVTOL as the program advances through testing.
Read-back
- Vertical Aerospace has received an order for 50 aircraft from India
- The order adds to the backlog behind the company's VX4 eVTOL platform
- Customer identity, delivery timeline and deal value have not been disclosed

Vertical Aerospace has received an order for 50 aircraft from a customer in India, extending a backlog the Bristol-based manufacturer has built around its VX4 electric vertical take-off and landing platform.
The 50-unit commitment marks one of the larger single orders tied to an Indian buyer for an advanced air mobility aircraft and adds to the pre-delivery commitments Vertical has accumulated from airlines, lessors and operators across Europe, the Americas and Asia.
Vertical has positioned the VX4, a piloted, four-passenger eVTOL designed for urban and regional connectivity, as a candidate for markets where congested ground infrastructure and dense city pairs make short-range electric flight economically attractive. India, with its heavily populated metropolitan regions and pressure on surface transport capacity, fits that profile, and the order signals interest from the market in electric vertical transport before the aircraft has completed certification.
The company continues to work through flight testing and certification activity with regulators, and any revenue realization from this order depends on the VX4 achieving type certification and entering serial production. As with the rest of Vertical's order book, the India commitment remains conditional on the program clearing those technical and regulatory milestones.
The order also illustrates how advanced air mobility developers are courting Asia as a demand base, with Indian buyers joining counterparts elsewhere in pre-certification commitments to eVTOL airframers.
Delivery schedules and the identity of the Indian customer have not been disclosed, and the value of the agreement remains unspecified. Vertical's near-term focus stays on VX4 flight-test progress and certification, the milestones that will determine whether the backlog converts into deliveries.
